Delphine was having a great time in foster land until we learned that there was a chance she was FELV+ and that it would be harder to find her a home. She is still having a wonderful time; she has no idea and is still focused on being a kitten and doing all the everyday things.  Delphine needs to be a SOLO cat – however, she LOVES dogs, and since the virus cannot be passed to canines, she can have a doggo buddy!

What is FELV?

Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is one of the most common infectious diseases in cats, affecting between 2 and 3% of all cats in the United States. Although a diagnosis of FeLV can be emotionally devastating, it is essential to realize that cats with FeLV can live normal lives for prolonged periods. The median survival time for cats after FeLV is diagnosed 2.5 years. Once a cat has been diagnosed with FeLV, careful monitoring of weight, appetite, activity level, elimination habits, the appearance of the mouth and eyes, and behavior is an integral part of managing this disease. Any abnormality in these areas should prompt immediate consultation with a veterinarian.
