277 days.

Sage spent approximately 277 days with us.

Day 1 was when she had finished nursing her kittens and was finally ready to be spayed. After she recovered from her surgery, she came to the lounge to find her forever home. By the time her kittens were ready for adoption, Sage was still there. One by one her kittens got adopted, and Sage was still there.

Summer and fall came and went, and Sage was still there. Winter started…and Sage was still there. She grew on all of us at Catsbury - and anyone of you who have met Sage know that she was our reigning treat queen and never missed an opportunity to get in on a meat tube. Sage was the first one to greet us every morning, and the first to hop on the counter to supervise feeding times. Sage has a sass to her that none of us at Catsbury will forget. Cait M will also never forget the time Sage jumped head first into the trash can - we are telling you, Sage is something else!

Day 277 started when Kristina and her family came to visit the lounge, looking for a new companion. When they arrived Sage made her presence known as she often does, and this time she was finally noticed. It didn’t take Kristina much time to realize that Sage was the one. Sage has such a wonderful, goofy, sweet personality and we knew she would make someone very happy - and we know she will be happy too.

Congratulations to Sage and Kristina. We wish you all of the best 🧡

They are full of energy, and their favorite toy is by far any type of wand toy. Kiki and Bobby love snuggling up with each other for nap time and are aways first in line for treats.

Kiki and Bobby are not yet at the lounge, but if you’re interested in adopting this adorable pair please fill out an adoption application at www.catsburypark.com and our adoption team will be in touch 🧡

Meet Ian and Earl!

Ian (long haired b/w M) and Earl (black F) are about 4.5 months old, and while they are not biological siblings they have been together since they were teeny tiny - so it makes sense that they find comfort snuggling with each other. Initially, we thought Earl was a boy but alas, she is a GEARL!

We would really love to find these kids a home together. They are sweet as can be and absolute MASTERS of purrs. They’re spayed / neutered, microchipped, UTD on vaccines and FIV/FelV negative.

If you’re interested in adopting Ian and Earl, head over to our website and fill out an adoption application today.

Meet Harper.

This young beauty was brought to us by a Good Samaritan this past weekend. She’s been living on his back porch since she was a little kitten. Lucky for her, she won’t have to live outside any longer.

Harper has been placed in foster, and we are happy to report made herself right at home. She’s an amiable and sweet girl who loves sleeping on her foster momma's bed. Her unique golden color is stunning in person. We estimate she’s around one year old, give or take a few months. Once she’s up to date on vaccines and spayed, she will be ready for adoption. Stay tuned!

Our poor Christopher fractured his tibia last week. We aren’t sure how it happened. We noticed a limp and got him seen by @citybytheseavet as soon as possible. After imaging and testing, we discovered the fracture. He’s been in a cast for a little over a week and in isolation cubby to limit his “play time”. This week we got some positive news from an orthopedist at @northstar_vets, but as you can imagine, his vet bills are starting to add up.

Christopher was 1 of 4 older kittens we pulled out of the woods in Lakewood in October. Shy, dirty, and afraid at that time, Christopher has blossomed in foster and even more so now that he and his brother Tony have graduated to the lounge. We hope for a speedy recovery so he can be reunited with his brother and friends at the lounge soon. (Swipe to see he and Tony together)

We are looking to raise funds to help offset his medical cost. Please consider a donation if you’re able, so we can ensure that we can continue to help little guys like Christopher who need our help for a better life.

ADOPTION STORY 📖

OUR FIRST ADOPTION OF 2023!

If you remember back to early September, we rescued a litter of six tiny babies from Long Branch. They spent the last four months with their amazing foster mommas, getting lots of love and growing into big, strong, adoptable kittens.

Our friend Taylor and her partner Jimmy reached out to us recently, as they had very suddenly lost their kitty Louis a few months prior. They started thinking about opening their home up to another cat as they felt they were ready, and they both knew Louis would be happy to know another cat in need would be getting such an amazing home, in his honor. When Taylor and Jimmy laid eyes on Alex (now Silvio!!!) they one hundred percent knew he was going to be going home with them. Silvio has scored 10 out of 10 on purr skills, floof, and snuggles - so we’re more than confident that Taylor and Jimmy will not be lacking in the affection department with this boy.

These stories are special to us for many reasons. Not only do we connect humans with their companions, we also indirectly play a part in helping them form those lasting bonds. And when I say we, I mean EVERYONE involved - from the fosters, to the finders, to the transports, the volunteers, the clinic staff, the adopters - all of you! Every little piece makes the rescue machine move and we would not be able to cover the ground we do without all of you.

All of us as CPHQ want to wish Taylor, Jimmy and Silvio the absolute best. We hope this year brings you everything you could wish for, and more. We are so very happy for you!

(SWIPE to see Silvio’s baby pic!)

Daily Xmas Billie 🎄🗞️

So many of you have followed Billie’s journey from the beginning. From the days after we rescued him, to his foster journey, to his eventual heartwarming adoption by his wonderful Momma. When we got news of his momma Mel’s passing this month, we were so heartbroken for her family and especially Billie. She had saved and showed him the unconditional love he had always deserved from day one. We knew that we owed it to Mel to make sure we found the perfect home for him.

That’s when Tiffany reached out to us. Tiffany is an experienced cat momma who wanted to welcome BILLIE into her home. Not only that, but she had known Mel for some time and knew how much he meant to her. She couldn’t bare the thought of Billie being alone any longer. Tuesday, we transferred BILLIE to his new home, and we are thrilled to report that he is thriving. Billie was so sad and shut down (understandably) when we got him back to catsbury last weekend, but he’s already bright and purring for his new momma.

Thank you to everyone who donated in Mel’s memory, contributed to Billie’s care, and shared his story. We are thrilled to know that Billie is once again home. Nothing can ever replace his special bond with Mel, but Tifanny and her family will make sure it is loved beyond words. ❤️

We had our annual holiday party this past weekend, and it was a blast! Sadly we forgot to take many photos, but here are two of some fine folks.

The first pic is DJ (obviously) with this year's award recipients.

On the left is Rachel, this year's recipient of the Lil’ Brian award. This award is presented each year to someone whose selfless dedication to helping cats in need inspires us all. Rachel joined our team this year as a trapper and single-handedly trapped over 50 cats and kittens, all while managing a full-time career, a husband, and raising 3 kids!!!

On the right is Kathy, our volunteer of the year. Of course, we are beyond grateful for all of our volunteers, but this year Kathy joined our team and has been so helpful and dedicated we thought she deserved special recognition.

The second pic is 5 ladies who have been with Catsbury Park since day 1 in 2017. It’s been years since we were all in the same room together, so this pic is extra special.

Of course, we are so thankful for all our fosters, volunteers, donors, and staff. We can’t continue our mission to help save the lives of cats and kittens in need without all of you ❤️❤️❤️

ADOPTION STORY !!!

Our sweet, beautiful Amelia was one the kitties that had been in the lounge the longest and was constantly being overlooked. So she waited, and waited. She was adopted in October and unfortunately returned to us the VERY next day for one single reason - she was hiding. To Amelia, it certainly felt like she would never find her person.

Amelia has a quiet disposition and the kindest eyes. After she was returned to us we knew she was going to need someone that would be patient with her and understand that she may need a little more time to decompress and be comfortable in her new surroundings.

After we posted about her return, we received a message from one of our long time volunteers and supporters, Kerry. “There is just something about Amelia. Something in her eyes that won’t let me look away…,” she told us.

After that message, Kerry and her partner Tim came by at least once a week to visit Amelia and let her get used to their voices and their smells. These are exactly the kind of humans we knew Amelia needed, and we could tell she was reciprocating the attention they gave her.

Today we sent Amelia to her forever home, with two beautiful people that have absolute hearts of gold. We know she will be loved beyond anything we could imagine, she will be cozy and have her own toys and her own bed - and she’ll have companions that understand her. This adoption hit us all in the feels over at CPHQ, big time.

It is adoptions such as Amelia’s that push us to do more, to work harder, and to save more lives. When we feel hopeless and beat down, there’s always a little bit of sunshine that reminds us why we work in rescue.

Today, Amelia was the sunshine we so desperately needed. We wish her so much love and happiness in her new chapter.

Shine bright, little girl 🧡

ROOBBBBEERRRRTTTTT !!!!!!

In April, @whiskersrescuenj picked this guy up at one of their TNR sites and quickly realized that he was an extremely friendly cat. So, they got him neutered and vaccinated and he made his way to Catsbury Park.

Robert has had a rough go of things. He’s estimated to be around 9-10 years old so there’s a very good chance he was fending for himself on the streets for quite some time. He needed a dental with us where he had extractions of painful teeth that were causing him some pretty uncomfortable inflammation in his gums. So, you can imagine recovering at the cat lounge during kitten season would not be the most relaxing place to be, especially for a man of distinguished age.

Robert spent a few months recovering with his incredible foster Mom, Jess. She nursed this boy back to health, making sure he was comfortable and ensuring that Robert knew he was loved. This was all very evident when he returned to the lounge a little over a week ago - even if he was a bit of a curmudgeon about the car ride (and his visit over at @citybytheseavet 🤣)

His adopter came to visit us over the weekend and immediately fell in love with Robert. It was clear to us they had a connection, and we couldn’t have been happier when we saw Robert’s name on an application. She prepared for Robert’s arrival by getting him his very own donut bed, and if you’ve met Robert you know that pretty much his favorite thing in the entire world.

Robert has a place in all of our hearts at Catsbury. He won’t have to wander the streets anymore or worry about being cold or hungry. He will live out his golden years with a window to watch birds from, with all the food and treats he could ask for, and a loving companion that happened to take a chance on a senior cat that truly deserves to have a forever home. We’ll miss you Robert, but we know you are in very, very good hands.

Adoption story and appreciation post.

This amazing young girl raised over $1000 for Catsbury Park at her birthday party. Every year she asks her friends to bring donations for us to her birthday party, and this year she raised over $1000!! Maddie’s family adopted two kittens from us over 6 years ago!! Right when Catsbury was still operating out of DJ’s spare bedroom. Not only that, but the two kittens they adopted are the litter mates of DJ’s cat and the face behind Catsbury’s logo, Lil Brian!

Maddie and her family visited us last weekend to bring in her donation and visit with some kitties. They DID NOT expect to meet Pierre. Pierre is the most lovely boy whom we had recently rescued from an Ocean County shelter. Right away, Maddie had a connection with Pierre, and after about 10 mins of asking mom and dad, they finally caved and decided to bring Pierre home, adding him to their growing Catsbury family!

Thank you, Maddie (and family), for not only continuing to support cats in need but for adopting from us again and giving Pierre the loving home he deserves. ❤️

It only comes but once a year, so please help all of us at Catsbury Park to wish our founding Feline Father @djvalues a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Because of DJ, hundreds of cats in our community have been TNR’d. He works tirelessly and around the clock for the cats to make sure Catsbury Park is doing all we can for our feline friends and we certainly think it shows!

Not only did DJ’s vision give the cats a second chance, it also did the same for many humans by offering a space to connect with the kitties and other cat lovers.

We are so very thankful for DJ and all that he does — so here’s to another trip around the sun and many more to come.

Billie - PLEASE READ

This is a post I have been avoiding for the past 2 days, as every time I sit to start writing it, I get emotional and start to cry.

Most of you, I’m sure, remember Billie, the handsome boy we rescued last spring. Many of you contributed to his care and probably follow his account @billie_is_home now. We regret to inform everyone that Billie’s Momma passed away this past week. She fought a tough battle with stage 4 cancer, and the family did everything possible. We here at Catsbury Park are completely devastated. Not only was Melanie an amazing young woman with her life ahead of her, but she was also the best momma to Billie; she adored him, which was so evident if you followed her page.
Moreover, poor Billie, after all, he had been through, had finally found his person. He must be so sad and confused. Just writing this is making me tear up.

Here is where we need your help. Billie needs placement ASAP. The family cannot keep him and is understandably shocked, having lost Melanie so young and suddenly. If anyone is able and willing to foster temporarily, please get in touch immediately. Ideally, we would love to find an adopter for him, so we don’t have to keep moving him around. Applications are now open for anyone interested. At the time of his rescue, we received many applications, so we hope there’s still someone interested in helping this sweet angel of a boy who needs us now more than ever.

Let’s get @billie_is_home a home once again. He deserves it, and Melanie would have wanted nothing more then for the amazing Catsbury community to help her boy.

BATMAN (and Rue) RETURNS !

If you’ve been following us for a bit, you may recognize these two gentleman. We rescued them RIGHT before Covid hit and they’ve been in long term foster ever since. Batman needed a full dental when he first came into our care which left him toothless, but it doesn’t seem to bother him in the slightest.

Batman and Rue are both “middle aged men” around 8 years old and they are 100% positively inseparable. Just like humans can have support animals, Batman and Rue have each other. They stick together and may seem a bit shy, but we can promise you once these two warm up to their surroundings and their people their personalities shine. They get along just fine with dogs as well, since they’ve had a doggy sibling the entire time they’ve been in foster.

These two must be adopted as a pair, so if you’re looking for a pair of bonded boys please head to our website and fill out an adoption application and our team will be in touch.

Hi! 👋 I’m Chimera, but everybody here calls me Chimichurri. It’s probably because Chimera is some kind of Greek mythological creature with a lion’s head, a goat’s body, and a serpent’s tail. I mean it sounds pretty badass, don’t get me wrong, but I’m a pretty chill guy, and over all? I look like a cat with a cat head, a cat body, and a cat tail. I do kinda feel like I might be more of a Chimmichuri though, since I’d make a fantastic accompaniment to your life 😉

I’m about 2.5 years old so I’ve got a lot of energy and I still LOVEEE to play. I also really enjoy napping in the sun and getting lots of chin scratches and meat tubes (boy oh boy do I love those meat tubes).

I’m cool with the other residents here, so I’d do great with another cat or two at home but I’d also do really well as an only cat. Like I said, I’m a pretty chill guy so I try to go with the flow.

If you’d like meet Chimera, you can fill out and adoption application or book a visit to the lounge. You can find out how to do both of those things on our website, www.catsburypark.com

Today on #GivingTuesday, we ask each of you to look a little deeper and consider giving to one of the many causes you believe in. This year we are looking to raise funds to help expand our facility. One of the biggest challenges we face daily is the lack of space. We turn away cats daily because we simply lack the room to house them. Expanding our facility will allow us to say “YES” more often and adequately accommodate and intake more cats in kittens from dangerous and unfortunate situations.

Consider a donation of any size today, if all days, if you’re able. If ½ of our followers donated just $1 each, we would more than double our goal.

No donation is too small. The lives of those most vulnerable depend on all of us. Thank you for your continued support. ❤️
